blah

Do you ever just wake up and say, "blah"? I am so very blessed with my life. I am allowed to stay home and raise my children. I have a yummy meal on the table every night for my family. I am able to grow my veggies and clip coupons, which allows me to save money. I can see all of my kids' development and milestones.

But, somedays, I wake up burned out! Oh goodie, another load of laundry. Some dishes to wash? Yes, please! Time to clean the toilet, again, since my boys have horrible aim? Lucky me.

I think I'll take a walk before I pick up kids at school. Hopefully, that will lift my spirits and get me back on track. Maybe a prayer would help, as well! I shouldn't look at my to-do list today!

busy, busy, busy

I spent the weekend building fences and planting. I'm pretty excited about the fence. I had never built one before and I think it looks rather nice! Even the neighbors complimented me.

Today, I finally put in the rest of the veggies. I can't believe I'm so late with this. I did buy 5 tomatoes, 1 zucchini and 1 cilantro plant. The rest were seeds that I sowed directly. I'm pretty bummed that I had to buy some plants, but the ones that I bought we use a lot of, and I wanted to make sure that we had enough. We will get a nice harvest, it will just be later than it could have been. Oh well.

So, within a few months time, I will have: potatoes, onions, zucchini, spaghetti squash, pumpkins, 2 kinds of lettuce, carrots, beets, cucumbers, yellow squash, watermelon, corn, and herbs- cilantro, and basil. Right now, I have sugar snap peas, chives, lemon balm, rosemary, and peppermint ready to harvest. Yay! I'm a farmer!!

STOP RAINING ALREADY!

Wow, talk about a weird Spring! It has been so cold and wet. A stellar year for Tulips and weeds!

I just went out to weed the veggie garden. I have a few plants coming up, but really need to get everything else in. It was sunny and beautiful, maybe about 65 degrees. Fast forward one hour and we have a thunderstorm. Dang! I was making progress. I have quite a list of seeds to get into the ground asap!

So far, I have potato plants {first year planting those!}, onions, sugar snap peas and my perennial herbs growing. My herbs include: rosemary, chives, lemon balm, peppermint and lavender. I strongly suggest that if you grow mint plants, that you do it in a pot or put a pot in the ground surrounding the plant. I had a clay pot with the bottom broken out, so I just placed it into the ground, around the mint. Mint spreads very quickly and can take over a garden!

Has it been 4 months?

I would never be a professional blogger...I can't remember to take time to blog! Life gets in the way of my internet time! he he

I have been working on a reclaimed brick project for many months now. I am happy to say that I have finally finished chiseling the mortar off of hundreds of bricks! Yes, I fractured a thumb but was it worth it? Oh yeah. I cannot wait to lay these bricks down into a new patio with a fire pit in the middle. Also, I kept the bricks out of a landfill, so I get extra points for that!

Summer is coming and I can't wait. Not only will my son be home, I won't have to pay for school lunch and the gas that it takes to get get to/from school! (we are 4.5 miles away) I am excited to save some money. We plan to ride our bikes around town this summer. Since he's getting a new bike for his b-day, it will all that much easier.

My goal is to save $6-7,000 asap, so that we can do a few repairs around the house. I do not want to go into debt to accomplish this task. I am working very hard on cutting back on groceries and utilities. Now if hubby would just stop buying stuff! :-)
